We are being given mixed messages through the media in regards to this ’same-sex’ kissing that seems to be on everyones minds these days. Adam Lambert’s American Music Awards kiss was much less dramatic than the kiss between Christina, Madonna and Britney back in 2003 at the MTV Video Music Awards. So why is Adams same-sex kiss being blurred out on CBS and not the infamous one with Madonna? Is it okay to kiss someone of the same sex publicly or on stage if you aren’t gay – but not okay if you are? That makes no sense to me. Is it because people would rather see girls kissing than boys? – I guess that’s the simple answer. Where is the shock and roll we used to love? Isn’t this shit what we watch the damn awards for?
There have yet to be any legal consequences for Lambert (hopefully none), and certainly were none for Britney, Christina and Madonna. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) said the CBS decision “reinforces an unfortunate double standard that is applied to openly gay performers.” You be the judge!
